What is Hypocrisy?: “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod” (Mk 8:15) - “Take heed, beware” are very strong words that bear a warning, ought to bring awareness and wake up the listener. The warning that Jesus Christ bore to His disciples in this sentence is one of great import.

"Lord, take my heart; for I cannot give it. It is Thy property. Keep it pure, for I cannot keep it for Thee. Save me in spite of myself, my weak, unchristlike self. Mold me, fashion me, raise me into a pure and holy atmosphere, where the rich current of Thy love can flow through my soul." {COL 159.3}

If someone tries to look beautiful doesn’t that show doubt in personal beauty? If I am beautiful I will not try to become beautiful, because I already am.
Jesus was asked to prove that He was the Son of God by doing something expected of the Son of God. He refused because in accepting such a challenge, He would accept the doubt that He was not the Son of God.
